Medieval Grantham is an unknown town. Here, fifteen scholars combine new studies of historical documentation with new assessments of the town’s buildings and buried archaeology, to characterise the medieval town and demonstrate its significance.

From Neolithic ceremonial centre to prosperous late medieval wool-town, for the first time Grantham is recognised as one of the more important medieval towns of the English Midlands.

This book contains many specially commissioned colour illustrations, and there are several views of buildings and streets published here for the first time.
