The Scandal of Nathaniel Thorold
£9.50
Description
Author, John Reed, was born in 1937 and raised in Ruskington, Lincolnshire. Whilst researching his family tree he discovered several references to Nathaniel Thorold.
This book follows Nathaniel’s rise from a farmer’s son who built a reputation as a gambler, spendthrift and adventurer to settling in Capri, founding a successful business and being knighted. His unconventional relationship with a married couple resulted in a formal complaint from the Bishop to the Pope regarding their behaviour.
This great story is factional (fiction based on facts), using many facts gathered from published sources and covers Nathaniel’s life from birth in 1703 on a farm in the Grantham area to his death on Capri in October 1764.
John Reed has also written about his own childhood memories in the book Ruskington: As I Remember It and also A Sister at Last both of which are available on this website.
