My Dad and I
£4.95 – £10.50
Description
The memories of childhood for Hannah Marjoram, the youngest of three children, and only daughter, born on a family farm at Asgarby some four miles east of Sleaford. Written in a lightly humorous style and illustrated with the delightful drawings of David Clench. This book records just what it was like for a girl on a typical ‘between the wars’ farm, as seen through the eyes of a child and schoolgirl, from the age of four to seventeen.
Everything that is related here did actually happen – even to the foundering of a boat on the farm! The book gives a picture of what life really was like in the twenties and thirties on a farm in Lincolnshire. It was a happy time for some, despite the far from luxurious conditions that prevailed and the difficulties of the depression and its aftermath.
