Description

This surprising mix of memories, aided by a collection of cuttings, photos and some diary notes helps bring our recent history to life.  George Bell (born, one of 16, in Sydney Street, Boston in 1925) tells his story from boyhood days in and around Boston with recollections ranging from wartime tragedies to farming in the Fens and killing the family pig.

After wartime army service in India, George returned to the building trade but it was as an amateur sportsman that his talents came to the fore, playing County tennis, badminton, football and hockey.  This brought him into contact with many Lincolnshire characters and provided some rare tales which George has brought to life through his memories of the people, the places and some well chosen illustrations.

George has since written a second book which tells the story of his father’s life as a soldier 1914-1919. Frithville to Fricourt – and Back is also available through this site.
