Just Douglas: A Navigator’s Story
£0.00
Description
This book by the Second World War Bomber Command veteran is written in his ninety fourth year. A tribute by Douglas to Allied and British prisoners of war held in Vichy French North Africa, to those who died serving their countries during WW2 and to his wife Alice, who died in May 2004 the year before their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. It recognises Mr RA ‘Scotty’ Scott, successful pioneer for the Bomber Command Memorial Ledger Stone, jointly unveiled by Douglas and veteran WAAF Mrs Sylvia Watts on 27th August 2006 in Lincoln Cathedral.
Written in an easy but engaging style. Douglas is an excellent communicator, as is clearly demonstrated throughout the book. His autobiography is educational for the younger readers. It is equally appealing to those who have themselves served in the RAF both old and young and those who have connections with the Bomber Command squadrons. The narrative is supplemented by important wartime photographs.
