Old and new Landscapes in the Horncastle Area
£2.50
Description
This book maps major changes in the appearance of the local landscape, changes brought about by the Acts of Parliament of the open fields and commons of 23 parishes in the Horncastle area of Lincolnshire. The areas covered include Asterby and Goulceby, East Keal, Hameringham, High Toynton, Kirkby on Bain, Thimbleby, West Ashby, Wood Enderby.
The area is examined during the 70 years after these Acts and presents many maps showing the division and subdivision. There were hundreds of miles of hedgerows planted and roads laid out. There are also chapters looking at the social change these Acts created.
