The Nice People are Here. Pop festivals in Lincolnshire

At the mention of Pop Festivals most people will automatically think of Woodstock and the Isle of Wight.  Lincolnshire however had its own events and four of these are recorded in this booklet.  Sincil Bank, Lincoln 1966, Bulb Auction Hall, Spalding 1967 and Tupholme Manor Park, Bardney 1971 and 1972. 

The latter years of the ’60s and the early ’70s was a time of massive change in popular music in Britain. Styles and tastes were broadening.  Initially spurred on by the likes of the Beatles and Bob Dylan, the concept of the ‘Pop Festival’ rapidly snowballed. This period of time was short, 1969-70 represented the zenith with Lincolnshire hosting four (as listed above).

In addition to being an account of music and musical events in Lincolnshire this booklet highlights some differences and developments in youth culture at the time.
