How did Lincoln develop? What were its medieval houses like? Why was the river Witham so important to the city? Where did its workers live and when were the houses built?

The Survey of Lincoln (SOL) was set up to answer questions like this.  This booklet is the culmination of these peoples contributions.  A group of local people looking into the history of the city. The current research project of Wigford, using photography, old documents, the recording of old buildings, and recollections of local people.  With chapters on many aspects including Anglo-Saxon Wigford; Churches, Parishes and Chapels; Architectural styles in Wigford; Tanning your hide; Industrial archaeology in Wigford; Conservation and development.
