Lincolnshire folk remember the war - some 23 individuals (members of local history groups throughout the county from Stickney, Lincoln, Alford, Whaplode, Willoughby and Anwick to name a few) record a rich picture of daily life amongst rural families under the extraordinary circumstances created by rationing, blackout and compulsory war service. Their memories are printed in this book as it recalls a range of emotions and experiences about their lives in Lincolnshire during World War II when working horses were still commonplace, there were no supermarkets and much of the food was home-grown.
Though these were sad and difficult times the contributors also recalled the comradeship and fun that made life bearable along with a few recipes and photographs of the period.
