Stewart Squires is well known as a writer on many aspects of Lincolnshire history. He is probably best known for his books and articles on the history of railways.
The source for this book has been the collection of photographs from the stock held by the County Council within its libraries and museums. They illustrate the railway scene in Lincolnshire, including the south bank of the Humber. In this book you can meet the people, at work and out for the day; see the buildings; the engines and engineering; goods and passenger trains' industry and accidents' and that aspect difficult to define, what today we call infrastructure. On the way it includes the odd, unusual and unique.
Lincolnshire is a county of contrasts, and its railways are no exception with a rich heritage illustrated in this volume giving a very readable pleasure to the reader.
