This book has been researched and written by pupils aged 10 and 11 from Cranwell Primary school. It has been an integral part of their studies of local history and geography, as well as developing their skills as writers, illustrators and publishers.
The publication of this book coincides with the 100th anniversary of the first Airship, and represents the first stage in the development of the Royal Air Force base in Cranwell, Lincolnshire, which began when The Admiralty wanted to establish stations from which airships could fly over the North Sea to observe and protect British shipping.
